Apprenticeships

Are you interested in a career in automotive engineering?

Ivor Searle is a long established company and the UK's leading provider of remanufactured engines, cylinder heads, turbos and gearboxes. As part of our business continuity planning, the business seeks to offer apprenticeships to 3 potential apprentices every year, so that they can learn the processes in each production department (i.e. stripping engines; crankshafts; cylinder heads; engine blocks; engine assembly; range development; maintenance).

A full training schedule is provided, for an apprentice to gain experience within each production department.

Ivor Searle's apprenticeship vacancies are advertised on Cambridge Regional College's website www.camre.ac.uk and also on www.apprenticeships.org.uk from March to June of each year.

We are seeking individuals who have the ability to identify solutions to problems; have good attention to detail; a positive attitude; honest; friendly; good time-keeping and a conscientious team player.  Duties may involve long periods of standing.

Minimum qualifications required are 5 GCSEs at Grade C and above in Maths; English; IT and Science (or equivalent)

As our apprenticeship partner, Cambridge Regional College initially conducts pre-screening interviews. Applications are then passed through to us for consideration for interview. Candidates are then invited to Ivor Searle for interview, which are held throughout June/July.

Successful candidates commence their 2-3 year apprenticeship with Cambridge Regional College in September.  Apprenticeships may include foundation level Advanced Manufacturing and Diploma in Machining for year 1 with day release training and Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering for years 2 and 3.
