Manual Machinist

A varied and challenging vacancy has arisen within our busy production team for an experienced manual machinist who under minimal supervision will set up and operate manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools and equipment.

Key responsibilities:
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner;
  • Reads and interprets blueprints;
  • Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements;
  • Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment;
  • Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites;
  • Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines;
  • Recognises, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling;
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment;
  • Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production;
  • Ability to track parts and jobs into the vantage system;
  • Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures;
  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

Parts & Workshop Co-ordinator

A vacancy has arisen within our busy Engine Machining Remanufacturing Services (EMRS) department for a Parts and Workshop Co-ordinator who ideally comes from an automotive parts/service environment.
 
Key responsibilities will be to:
 
  • use OE, third party and aftermarket parts look up systems to source parts for workshop jobs or telephone enquiries from customers;
  • liaise with customers over engine or component machine work;
  • create job cards for machine work to be carried out by the EMRS workshop.  Examples of machine work would be cylinder head skimming/facing/cylinder block boring or crankshaft grinding;
  • carry out stock control using Sage 200 and Microsoft Excel;
  • raising parts returns to suppliers;
  • raising purchase orders in Sage 200;
  • to assist with cashing up the till at the end of day as and when required;
  • hours of work are 45 hours Monday to Friday.

 Ideally the successful candidate will:
 
  • have knowledge of the individual components and parts that make up an engine;
  • have excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • possess a positive attitude and display the ability to identify solutions to problems;
  • have experience of using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and Sage 200 or similar;
  • in-house training will be provided for a proactive candidate with a basic knowledge of the motor and garage trade, with the desire to work in a unique and varied role that has the potential for growth.

Gearbox Department

An additional operative is required to strip; inspect; reassemble and pick components for gearboxes whilst working to build plans and schedules.

Production Hours:  Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:30 with 20 minutes paid morning break, half hour unpaid lunch and Friday 07:30 to 13:30 with 20 minutes paid morning break  (40 hour working week)

Engine Remanufacturing Operative

Due to expansion, vacancies are opening in several production departments for engine remanufacturing operatives.  Duties will range from stripping, inspecting, cleaning, reassembling and picking components for engines.

Ideally the successful candidate for the above role will have previous experience of engineering, machining and/or engine work, possess a positive attitude and display the ability to identify solutions to problems.  In-house training will be provided.

Production Hours:  Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:30 with 20 minutes paid morning break, half hour unpaid lunch and Friday 07:30 to 13:30 with 20 minutes paid morning break  (40 hour working week)

Crank Grinder / Machinist

We require a crank grinder/machinist to join our team in the crank department.
 
Ideally the successful candidate will have:
  • previous experience of precision engineering or a basic knowledge of machining (in-house training will be provided);
  • Be competent in measuring in both metric and imperial using a micrometer;

Engine Assembler

A vacancy has arisen for another team member to join our engine assembly department to assemble a range of both petrol and diesel remanufactured engines.  The successful candidate will be assembling 1, 2 or 4 engines simultaneously to specification.

We are seeking individuals with a keen interest/knowledge of engines either through experience in the motor trade, agricultural plant, general plant, motor sport, etc.
